Welcome to the Sacramento Daily Patch Newsletter! This is where you will find all of the best news and events happening in Sacramento for Sunday October 3rd, 2021! First, today's weather: Mostly sunny and very warm. High: 93 Low: 55. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: Don't get caught by the new testing rules for Golden 1 Center like some fans did on Friday night! The new rule is that you have to either show proof of vaccination or a negative test within 48 hours of entering the venue. It used to be a 72 hour requirement. Thankfully, DOCO has a pop-up COVID test site just outside the venue that some fans utilized to be able to get in and enjoy a concert with Kane Brown. The on-site test costs $29, but for many fans that was worth it, even with a long wait to get tested. The COVID-19 testing service on-site delivers results within about 15 minutes. Many fans reported, however, it took them about an hour and a half just to get through the line and the testing process. (KCRA3) Expect delays if you are headed to downtown Sac today. Caltrans has made the following closures: The on-ramps from north N street to southbound State Route 51; The connectors ramps from southbound Business 80 and Capital City Freeway to westbound and eastbound US Highway 50. Crews are replacing pavement on the ramps. Caltrans said drivers should plan ahead and should consider alternative methods of transportation like the Sacramento Regional Transit. (ABC10)Some women in a Sacramento neighborhood have been getting an unexpected (and unwanted) "gift" on their cars in the form of underwear under the windshield wipers. Several women have reported finding the garments on their cars over the past few months and few years. Two women, in particular, have found underwear left on their vehicles multiple times. Sacramento police are aware of the incidents and, due to a recent spate, have increased patrols in the neighborhood. They are unsure what the motive is at this time and no suspects have been identified. "This investigation remains active. Anybody who observes any suspicious activity or has information regarding these incidents please contact the Sacramento Police Department at 916-808-5471." they said. (KCRA3) The owners of the Holiday Inn Express on 16th Street have filed plans with the city to redevelop the four-story building into multi-family housing. An outdoor recreation area with fire pits and a fenced-in dog park is also part of the renovation plans. (CBS Sacramento) A softball field in Sacramento has been named in honor of fallen officer Tara O'Sullivan. The Sacramento Police Department unveiled the sign for Tara O'Sullivan Memorial Field at Woodlake Park during a special ceremony on Thursday. O'Sullivan was killed in the line of duty in 2019. She was just 26 years old. His technique plays to my right brain while satisfying my left. Artist Brian Valenzuela uses written word to create murals. The words become the shadows and light of the piece. He uses font and text size and color to create nuance and portray his subjects brilliantly. Fascinating. And beautiful! From our sponsors — thanks for supporting local news!
