Press release from the City of Rancho Santa Margarita: October 1, 2021 OCMVCD reminds those who utilize park facilities, sports fields and participate in other outdoor recreation activities to take precautions and wear mosquito repellents when mosquitoes are most active (dawn or dusk). The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) has confirmed a bird sample infected with West Nile Virus (WNV) was found near the cross streets of Antonio Parkway and Oso Parkway in an unincorporated County area south of Rancho Santa Margarita.  OCMVCD reminds those who utilize park facilities, sports fields and participate in other outdoor recreation activities to take precautions and wear mosquito repellents when mosquitoes are most active (dawn or dusk).  Residents are urged to eliminate all standing water, regardless of the amount, to deter breeding opportunities.
