Description
JaSkaMon is an inter-generational, family-friendly reggae/ska/soca music project that plays mostly original songs and a handful of covers. Like everyone, we took a long break when the pandemic started and are still re-finding our feet, so to speak.
Several of us sing, but we could really use someone strong to hold down the high end. I (Azalea, keyboardist) can sing high-ish but not very strongly and I'm not well-trained as a solo singer (I'm mainly good for harmony). If you want to mainly do backup, that's cool; if you want to take lead vocals for some songs, that's cool too!
It would be extra cool if you can play any of the following: misc. percussion (especially tambourine!!), drum set (our drummer can do other percussion too), keyboards, guitar, and/or a horn (sax, trumpet, trombone). I play keys but sometimes it's nice to have two.
If you're not up for the singing part but are still interested, feel free to drop us a line too!
We're not currently gigging, but when we do, gigs are paid. We are also hoping to do some recording soon, and if you participated in that you'd be paid for that as well. Rehearsals are currently in Cottage Grove, where our drummer lives, on Sunday afternoons/evenings. If you can host closer to or in Eugene, that'd be pretty cool.
We're looking for someone who wants a strong musical commitment and wants an outlet to grow and explore and help the creative process. We're thinking of doing music videos, livestreams, expanding our social media presence, and just trying to get out there more.
If you're interested in coming to rehearsal, we can hook you up with charts and recordings to help you prepare.
