Description
Mature - well maybe I should say seasoned (in my 60's, not sure my wife would agree with "mature") - singer/musician looking for kindred souls interested in singing &/or playing in a minimalist, FUN ensemble covering great tunes.
The structure will be simple: 2 or 3 or 4 person combo. I will sing baritone and play either bass or 6-string. I'd love to add a tenor, or possibly a female vocalist, and at least one more decent voice. One of my skills is directing harmony and boy, do I love 3- and 4- part.
And at least one more guitar, two better yet. Other instruments? Would depend; I play trumpet but can't see working that in (tho could cover some Cake; love 'em). We will play any song that we can make sound good and people will enjoy, the ultimate goal being to play out for parties, clubs, maybe weddings.
Well, the #1 goal will be to have fun.
I am presently - and have been for decades - in a working, Rock-n-Roll party band, and I love it. But my background includes years of "acoustic" ensembles wherein the electronics were minimal-if-at-all-present, and we leaned towards Folksy repertoire: Statler Bros., Simon & Garfunkel, PP & Mary, but would often "acousticize" The Beatles, Stones, STP (yep), absolutely any material that we could pull off and people enjoyed. Would you believe an "acoustic" duet playing "Kryptonite" (3 D Down) and the crowd loving it? (And I don't think they were all drunk, yet.)
So that's the idea. I've noticed a lot of small-footprint groups getting a lot of work the last few years. Compared to the full-PA/drum kit/lights/amps +++ setup (like my current band) it's so much easier. I have practice space set up in my basement (if you're allergic to cats, might be a prob). I'd like to eventually rehearse or gig once a week.
If this sounds like a fit, email back. Easygoing people only, pulleeeze. I've been at this too long to put up with personality disorders (you know who you are).
And thanks for reading this novella!
