Electrician Opening: Starting Nov 1st, 2021 Employment type: Full-Time – Non-Exempt Compensation: Shift 1: $61.99 Shift 2: $62.99 + 8 paid holidays Location: Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst Schedule: TBD POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, works in testing, calibration, modification, maintenance, repair and servicing of electrical and fire life safety infrastructure and facility support equipment. Installs electrical devices, wiring, and systems. Monitors and maintains safe operating condition of all electrical systems and related equipment. This job class requires knowledge of federal and state codes, laws and regulations regarding electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance. TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. * Complies with National Electrical Code and company standards when wiring equipment, following all applicable safety policies and codes. 2. * Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment. 3. * Uses a variety of electricians power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments. 4. * Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications. 5. * Installs, maintains and operates electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, electric gate crossings, signals, switches, or other equipment. 6. * Locates and diagnoses problems in the electrical system or equipment. 7. * Records and reports inspections, repairs performed and equipment replaced. 8. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. * Denotes Essential Job Function MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to develop, read, understand, and interpret schematics and blueprints and to do standard computations • Knowledge of NEC and electrical/wiring principles; building codes, local, state and federal regulations on electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and to escalate the more difficult matters appropriately • Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, to work independently and as a team, and to build effective working relationships • Ability to manage material resources, changing priorities, workflow, multiple projects and deadlines; • Use of own tools may be required • Ability to work safely and understand all safety requirements and company policy • Ability to travel to various facilities EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Technical/other training CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED: State Electrician License Valid Driver's License PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance: • Using fine motor coordination, concentration, and good vision to differentiate between colors • Bending, kneeling, and stooping, and maneuvering in and around work areas • May lift or move boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds • Working in confined spaces • Climbing ladders Responses and resumes without contact information will not be considered.
