NCMA Tysons Chapter Presents: "The Next Generation of Contracting Specialists" NCMA Tysons Chapter Is At It Again! Please join us on October 26, at American Prime located at 1420 Springhill Road, McLean, Virginia for a two plated meal option: Steak or Salmon. It will be an evening of food, fun and a discussion on the next generation of contracting specialist. Wes Bennett, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Director of the Contracts Management Office (CMO), for the Defense AdvancedResearch Projects Agency (DARPA). As the Senior Procurement Executive and Head of Contracting Activity, he is responsible for providing advice on DARPA’s total acquisition portfolio of more than $3.5 billion, making pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security. Mr. Bennett is the principal business and acquisition advisor to the Director of DARPA and represents DARPA in all acquisition issues with the Department of Defense. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Bennett served as CMO’s Director of the Services Division where he led the acquisition of enterprise-level professional services, information technology, facilities support, security, studies, and research and development. Mr. Bennett is a former officer in the United States Air Force and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also previously served as a warranted contracting officer for several organizations involving a variety of acquisitions including major weapons systems, services, and research and development. Mr. Bennett is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level III certified in Contracting. His formal education includes a Master of Science degree in Acquisition and Contracts Management, Bellevue University and a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, United States Air Force Academy.
