Waltham's Moody St. Fire Station To Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

WALTHAM, MA — Moody Street Fire Station will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the station's grand reopening following two years of construction. Starting in 2019, the city launched a $9.3 million renovation project to gut and rehab the existing building and add four complete new bays with extra large bay doors. The station officially reopened at the end of June. Moody Street Fire Station was built in the 1800s, when firefighters would use horse-drawn carts. The city spent years debating how to best upgrade the historic station, and now the Waltham Fire Department hopes the upgraded building will service the town for at least the next 100 years. This weekend's ribbon cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Fire Chief Thomas McInnis, Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, and members of the fire department and City Council. Participants will also be given a tour of the new facility.
