Press release from the City of Wauwatosa:
08/17/2021 10:36 AM
In August, the Census Bureau released redistricting data which we'll use to redraw local legislative boundaries. Using this data, the City of Wauwatosa is required to approve new ward maps and subsequently new alderperson district maps to guide future elections within the City.
The Common Council has chosen to use an independent committee to ensure that maps are fairly and equitably drawn. The Milwaukee County Independent Redistricting Committee is available to all Milwaukee County municipalities at no cost. The independent committee consists of six retired judges. They will schedule a public hearing to receive public comment regarding the proposed redistricting map at a future date. The Common Council will have final approval over the recommended maps.
More 2020 Census population results will be available later including statistics on age, sex, race and ethnicity, and details about the population.
