STAMFORD, CT — A water main replacement project is scheduled to begin Oct. 4 on Cove Road, Avery Street, and Euclid Avenue in Stamford, according to a news release from Aquarion Water Company. The work is essential "to ensure system reliability," the utility company said.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of December. Additional water main replacements on George Street, Hale Street, Martin Street, Houston Terrace, Van Buskirk Avenue, and a portion of Sachem Place are scheduled be completed in 2022, Aquarion noted.
The project, which will replace approximately 10,330 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion's water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.
"We greatly appreciate residents' patience during this project," said Art Bradshaw, Aquarion's Project Manager, in a news release. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and city officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."
Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To keep customers informed about scheduled/unscheduled work, Aquarion utilizes an Everbridge notification system to call affected customers. Aquarion encourages customers to sign up for the free service.
Weekly project updates including construction status, work schedule, and changes in traffic patterns and detours will be posted on Thursday evenings on the City of Stamford website.
