STAMFORD, CT — Last month, Farms Road in Stamford was heavily damaged when remnants of Hurricane Ida slammed into the region. Now, the city will hold a Zoom meeting for those who were impacted by the closure of a portion of the road to hear resident concerns and discuss the steps and planned timeline for restoration. The virtual meeting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m., and feature Mayor David Martin, Stamford Engineer Lou Casolo, Aquarion Water Company, and consulting firm Tighe & Bond, according to a news release from Martin's office. Since May of 2020, Aquarion has been actively working to replace an existing 24-inch raw water pipeline between Stamford and Greenwich. On Sept. 1, the remnants of Hurricane Ida reached Stamford producing approximately 8.1 inches of rain, the most significant amount of rainfall the city had seen in a short period of time in over six decades, according to a news release. As a result, the severe flooding caused the temporary pavement put in place by Aquarion on Farms Road, part of their ongoing restoration project, to collapse. The road currently remains impassible. "It is our goal to restore Farms Road to a safe and habitable condition as quickly and efficiently as possible," Casolo said in a news release Friday. "The city's engineering department is currently working with Aquarion to resolve the issues caused by Hurricane Ida and to provide residents with a timeline for repairs." Residents of Farms Road are able to join the Zoom meeting and participate in the discussion through this link.
