Celebrate Christmas with Dickens, and view rarely seen , one-of-a-kind works connected to Christmas and the author. The Rare Book Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia invites you to celebrate Five Christmases with Dickens. While Charles Dickens did not invent Christmas his works influenced how Victorians were to celebrate the holiday. Event participants will view rarely seen works connected to Dickens Christmas stories, such as A Christmas Carol , The Chimes , The Cricket on the Hearth, The Battle of Life , The Haunted Man , and more. Guests will also be treated to viewing Charles Dickens' personal desk and pet raven, Grip. This in-person program will be limited to a small group of ten participants in adherence of COVID-19 safety protocols, so register now while seats are still available!
