Cars Stolen, Porch Pirates, Extortion: Loudoun Crime Report

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Several crimes are under investigation around Loudoun County, including an extortion attempt, a stolen package, multiple stolen vehicles, and items stolen from cars, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The extortion attempt was reported to authorities on Friday, Oct. 1. The victim, an Ashburn man, told police that he sent a photo to a person that he met online. The recipient threatened to share the photo with others unless the victim sent money, which he did. A series of vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles were reported in Ashburn from Wednesday, Sept. 29 to Thursday, Sept. 30. A man in the 20800 block Amberview Court told police that his 2000 Toyota truck was stolen from in front of his residence. Similarly, a woman in the 20800 block Isherwood Terrace told police that her 2010 Ford Fusion was stolen from her residence. The Ford was later recovered in Fairfax County, police said. Elsewhere in Ashburn, several victims reported that items were stolen from their vehicles. "Numerous items were taken including: wallets, credit cards, laptop, tools, sneakers, money," the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said. "There were no signs of forced entry on any of the vehicles." The thefts were reported on Huntland Court, Willowbrook Drive, Deer Chase Place, Sweet Clover Place, and other Ashburn neighborhoods. Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, a suspicious incident in Ashburn was reported to police. "The complainant reported that she heard a knock on her front door and when she opened it, a person on the other side tried to push the door open," the sheriff's office wrote in their report. "She was able to push the door shut and lock it before calling the LCSO." Authorities were not able to locate the man. On Thursday, Sept. 29, a theft in Lovettsville was reported to police. The complainant told police that she received a package in the mail, but when she opened the package, the item she ordered was missing.
