WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Woodbridge public works employee died of COVID-19 this past week, revealed Mayor John McCormac. The employee was not named, but he was a 61-year-old man, said McCormac, calling it "very sad." He was one of five total COVID-related deaths in the last few weeks, the others being men ages 85, 83 and 63 and a 20-year-old woman. "They are our first passings since three in early May," said McCormac. "Please keep all of the victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers." Woodbridge logged 110 new coronavirus cases in the past week, which McCormac said "is our lowest total since the Delta variant began taking hold in July." Woodbridge has averaged 152 per week for the last eight weeks, "so 110 is a very welcome number." Woodbridge will hold a vaccine clinic from 9-noon Saturday at the health center, with another one from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. They have all three vaccines in stock, including Pfizer for those who want booster shots. Be the first to know.
