HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Meet Patch's Adorable Adoptable Pets of the Week available from the Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Described as the sweetest guinea pig, 2-year-old Daphne is calm and accustomed to being handled. She will be a great pet for a household looking to adopt their first guinea pig. This adorable girl was abandoned at a vet office and is looking for a stable forever home to call her own. DeDe is a timid 6-month-old female kitty in need of a quiet forever home. DeDe is very gentle and loves to cuddle. Her docile personality will be best matched with a quiet household with lots of cozy spots for her to take naps. DeDe's previous owner could no longer afford her and had to surrender her to the shelter. In her previous home, she lived with children age 2 to 11 years old. Ty is a beautiful 8-year-old neutered male in search of a loving place to call home. Ty's family developed allergies to him and were no longer able to keep him. Ty lived with another cat, Thor, and they got along well. They are not required to be adopted to the same home, but the duo would appreciate someone with room in their heart and home for both of them. Thor is a handsome 7-year-old neutered male cat looking for a forever home to call his own. Thor's previous family developed allergies and they could no longer keep him and his partner in crime Ty. Though they are not required to be adopted into the same home, they would love to find a family with space for them both. Layla is a 14-week- old female pit bull puppy. Layla will need an experienced dog owner to adopt her who owns his or her own home, has a fenced-in yard and enrolls Layla in obedience training. Puppies like Layla explore the world with their teeth. She will need training to stop her from nipping and chewing things up. Full of confidence and spunk, Layla plays well with other dogs at the shelter but her youthful energy may be too much for a senior resident dog that is more mellow and relaxed. Two-year-old Cocoa is a female aquatic turtle who is small at the moment but will continue to grow, so she'll need a larger tank to accommodate that growth. Weekly and monthly cleanings also will be necessary to maintain her health. Cocoa enjoys a variety in her diet such as pellets, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. Damian is an 8-year-old neutered male cat in search of a loving forever home. Damian loves to show off his biscuit-making skills, especially when being brushed. He is an engaging cat and will be more than happy to help you binge-watch your favorite show. Damian will prefer to be the only cat in the home. Since he came in as a stray, it is unclear how he will do in a home with young children or dogs. For more information about adopting these adorable critters or any others currently at the center, call 410-313-2780 or visit the center's site on PetFinder or its Facebook page. The shelter has resumed normal operating hours.
