Description
Seeking Quiet, Thoughtful Creative or Nerdy Roommate/Live-In PCA Easy-going, quiet roommate needed to help with personal care assistance and light cleaning and cooking who can move in November 1. Direct PCA hours currently pay $17.71 an hour until December when it may return to $16.10 per hour. We are advocating to protect the $17.71! I use a power wheelchair and need help with transferring to and from the wheelchair and other basic activities. I have a couple of steady PCAs and so, the number of direct care hours roommate works cleaning for needed can vary. My roommate and I usually work that out in advance based on our schedules. Some roommates want to work more hours, others less. Happy to talk more about the hours with folks really interested in potentially moving in. No experience with disability needed. It’s important that the person interested try out some of the activities and demonstrate they can learn and feel comfortable with the tasks. The folks who help me out are good at what they do and happy to teach. This type of living arrangement is all about relationship, humor, and communication! LGBTQ friendly, folks living a clean and sober life welcome. Apartment is in great location in Back Bay Boston. The apartment is close to two T stations. The space is clean, but comfortable. Utilities are covered including wi-fi. The building has laundry facilities. COVID is tough on everyone so maintaining a COVID bubble is important. I provide hand sanitizer and masks to guests and Personal Care Attendants who come in to help me out. To make life less complicated, the apartment is also smoke and scent-free with no personal scented products. A little more about me, I am a health justice advocate invested in advancing health equity in our healthcare system. I’m passionate about the work so I spend much of my day in my room at the computer working. My retired service dog is a great companion who knows his own mind. I take him for long walks in my wheelchair most afternoons. It gives him exercise and gets me from behind my desk. If you are interested and would like to learn more, please send me an email telling me a little bit about yourself Thank you, do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers
