Dispatcher POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinate the activities of drivers to maximize productivity, while assuring prompt and effective service to customers. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assigns drivers to locations for hauling loads. • Courteously interacts with customers and/or the general public. • Updates, prepares and dispenses the daily schedule. • Communicates regularly with Terminal Supervisors for updated needs at various facilities. • Re-routes trucks to various locations through out the day for fluctuations in volumes. • Reports driver problems to appropriate department or supervisor for resolution. • Maintains dispatch or service log to document pick-ups. • Ensures he has updated information on tonnage at each facility. • Ensures trucks are assigned/dispatched to adhere to contract obligations in a timely manner. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
