STUDENTS SHOULD NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS CLASS IF THEY HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH COVID IN THE LAST 60 DAYS. 2. STUDENT ATTENDING UNDERSTAND THEY ATTEND AT THEIR "OWN RISK" 3. VACINATION IS PREFERED BUT WILL NOT BE CHECKED 4. STUDENTS SHALL WEAR CDC FACEMASK AT THEIR OWN DISCRESSION. Background: The impact of traffic incidents on highway operations, reliability, and safety is well known and alarming. About 25 percent of all delays are caused by traffic incidents. Congestion costs are counted in hundreds of billions of dollars and wasted fuel is measured in billions of gallons. More importantly, traffic incidents pose a significant safety risk to both responders and travelers.The likelihood of a secondary crash increases by 2.8% with each minute that an incident remains unresolved. Clearing incident scenes quickly, with a well-coordinated multidisciplinary team of first responders and transportation personnel, is an important means of reducing the risk of secondary crashes and congestion delays. Who benefits?Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Transportation agencies, Towing and Recovery Operators, Hazardous Materials Responders, Dispatch Operators, Coroners and Medical examiners Training: The National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training is instructed by responders to responders. Participants learn about the most up-to-date, multi-discipline standards and best practices successfully used across the nation to improve on-scene responder and motorist safety. Classes bring together responders across all agencies and disciplines to improve team performance. IN-TIME stands for Indiana Traffic Incident Management Effort. It's a group of public and private sector stakeholders that develop and recommend policy and operational protocols for the safe and efficient mitigation of traffic incidents.
