Description
PASCO COUNTY, FL – The National Association on Mental Illness Pasco's Heroes of Hope Awards will return for Mental Health Awareness Week 2021. The NAMI Pasco Heroes of Hope Awards ceremony will take place Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. via Facebook Live on NAMI Pasco's page.
Pasco Hernando State College (PHSC) will be the presenting sponsor for this event to help recognize the exemplary mental health supporters in our community. In addition, PHSC will also be announcing the prestigious Mental Health Professional of the Year award.
"At PHSC, we recognize the importance of mental health for our students and the community," said Timothy L. Beard, president of PHSC. "Each year, PHSC hosts multiple free programs that bring difficult issues to light, including mental health conditions, addiction, suicide and how those topics can be addressed — without stigma. We are impressed with the efforts made by NAMI Pasco and pleased to serve as presenting sponsor for the Heroes of Hope Award."
"We are thrilled to have PHSC as our presenting sponsor of these awards this year," said Debbie L. Proulx, executive director of NAMI Pasco. "We have been working closely with PHSC to enhance their students' mental health through NAMI on Campus and Students Offering Support (S.O.S.). In addition, we have several interns from PHSC and three board members. This is a great fit to continue support for PHSC students, staff and Pasco County as a whole."
