Description
OAK CREEK, WI — The hundreds of things submitted from across the state for this year's "Coolest Thing Made In Wisconsin" contest have been whittled down to just eight objects.
One of the last standing objects is created in Oak Creek by Astronautics Corporation of America — flight displays. Technically known as The Badger Pro+ Integrated Flight Display System, it's a set of screens that helicopter pilots rely on for navigation and more.
The screens are standard fit in some Bell Helicopters to provide a steady stream of data, maps, compasses and even video. The unique creation of Oak Creek is now competing against Kwik Trip Glazers, outboard motors, cranes, and oh-so-predictable, beer (New Glarus, of course).
The screens persisted through the 100,000 votes cast, though, and remain in the race for Coolest Thing Made In Wisconsin.
"Wisconsin has a vibrant and diverse manufacturing industry, and we see that in the 16 products that made it into our Manufacturing Madness bracket," said Nick Novak, WMC Vice President of Communications & Marketing. "As we get closer to naming the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin, we encourage everyone in our state to learn more about the cool products we make here and the rewarding career opportunities in manufacturing."
