Milwaukee Lawyer Is First Black Champion Of 'Big Brother'

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee lawyer Xavier Prather won the reality competition show "Big Brother" on Wednesday. The 27-year-old attorney was awarded $750,000 and became the first Black champion of the show. The first season of "Big Brother" was 21 years ago. Courtesy of CBS Prather gained all nine jury votes and beat Derek Frazier to cap his historic run. He survived elimination by joining different alliances throughout the show, including the Slaughterhouse, Royal Flush and the Cookout. The Cookout, which was an all-Black alliance of six members, pushed all of its members into the final six of the show, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The alliance's goal was to crown the first Black champion in the show's history. Prather is dubbed "America's Favorite Houseguest." In his CBS profile, Prather said his goals were to make genuine connections and friendships with each of the houseguests and "reiterate that we are playing a game and avoid bringing personal matters into game decisions." Prather is from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and graduated from Marquette University Law School. Before that, he received a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and prelaw at Spring Arbor University in Michigan.
