Description
HUNTINGTON, NY — Huntington students will not experience an interruption in school bus service on Thursday and Friday after New York State stepped in, News 12 Long Island reported.
Superintendent James Polansky's call for help to the state was met by state Sen. Jim Gaughran (D — Syosset), who said he got Gov. Kathy Hochul to provide emergency assistance to the students. Gaughran also implored Huntington Coach Corporation to fulfill its contract and resume full bus service in Huntington, according to News 12.
Huntington Coach Corporation recently announced it would cease all service to the Huntington School District after Oct. 8, although effective Thursday, it would slash as many as 42 morning and 34 afternoon routes to the Huntington School District.
The bus company pointed to the coronavirus outbreak as the reason for its decision to no longer provide service to Huntington schools — the only district to be impacted, the company said.
