Description

NEW HAVEN, CT — The state Municipal Election is Tuesday, Nov. 2. Patch contacted candidates to answer questions about their campaigns. Republican Steve Orosco, 40, is running for Alder. Occupation: Self Family: Spouse, Jeannine Candela Orosco and lifelong resident of Ward 18. Son, Jaxson Orosco, 7, who has attended Nathan Hale K- 2nd grade and will continue in the New Haven school system until the 8th grade. Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: 1. Tweed Expansion 2. Quality of Life issues that range from an increase in crime to deterioration of our streets and parks. It will be my job to understand how these issues are directly facing the residents in Ward 18 as well as those within the East Shore Mgt Team to uncover the "pressing" issues we are faced with. I will also need to spend time with soon to be Captain Rentkowicz's replacement Lt. Brian McDermott in order to figure out where we can make a difference. Critical differences between me and my opponents: One major difference is our current Alder was in favor of the Tweed expansion while myself and this community were adamantly against it. Accomplishments: From the multiple successful businesses in operation to holding an MBA, I fully understand all facets of business that range from budget allocation to shareholder prioritization, and which in this case are the residents of Ward 18. What else would you like voters to know about you? The Alder position is not about party affiliation, rather about the community as whole, regardless of stance. We all want the same quality of life in our community and as a result my allegiance, will always be to my district first and foremost.
