Good Thursday morning Connecticut, It will be sunny and chilly today, with temperatures only in the low 60s. It will be a tad warmer on Friday with sun and high temperatures into the upper 60s, and we moderate into the low 70s on Saturday with more sunshine. Sunday will be a day of transition as showers will move in but likely at night and most of the day should be dry and even sunny at times with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. The National Weather Service currently shows chances of rain Monday-Wednesday of next week. We'll worry about that later on. Enjoy the nice fall weather through Sunday afternoon. 14-year-old stabbed to death in Connecticut, police say The Waterbury community is mourning the death of a 14-year-old, who was stabbed to death on Wednesday afternoon, WTNH News 8 reports. CT's increase was in line with the national average. The rate of vehicle thefts soared by 40 percent between 2019 and 2020, according to Fox 61. However, the FBI report reveals that the rate of all violent crimes, which includes homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, actually declined in Connecticut. (Read the full Fox 61 story here.) Local Democrats and Republicans have been vigorously debating the FBI report on social media. Democrats contend that overall all violent crime decreased in Connecticut and that we're the fourth-safest state in the country. The CT GOP sees the results differently and said "Connecticut is more dangerous than ever." Here's a sampling of the social media commentary by Democrats and Republicans. 1/ The FBI released their 2020 crime report and #Connecticut continues to be one of the safest states in the country. We saw a 1.6% decrease in crime while the nation saw 4.6% increase. While murder and motor vehicle thefts were up, they follow a national and international trend. pic.twitter.com/coTyLRIiWm— Bob Duff, Senate Majority Leader, CT (@senatorduff) September 28, 2021 2/ All other categories of crime were way down in our state. Since 2011, violent crime in #Connecticut is down 34.1%.
