MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police have charged a juvenile with attempted murder in connection with a June shooting on a local street.
The juvenile, identified by investigators as the shooter, was served a warrant for five charges. They include:
Criminal attempt to commit murderCriminal attempt to commit first-degree assaultCriminal attempt to commit first-degree robberyConspiracy to commit first-degree robberyCarrying a pistol without a permit On June 24, a resident was leaving his home at night and spotted a vehicle being driven slowly on Academy Street with its lights off. The vehicle was described in a police report as a four door, maroon-colored car with tinted windows and a temporary license plate.
The maroon car pulled in front of the resident's vehicle and blocked the roadway, a police report indicates. Two people exited the car with handguns and approached the resident's vehicle, and as the resident attempted to drive around the maroon car, one of the suspects fired his handgun, according to police reports.
The bullet struck the driver's side window, according to case records.
The resident was not injured and he was able to drive out of the area, police said.
