Description

ARLINGTON, VA — Diamond is a big dog who has an even bigger heart, according to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. He arrived at the shelter after his previous own passed away. Diamond's likes sniffing around the yard, but he also enjoys jumping up onto a bench next to an AWLA volunteer, which makes it easier for him to get a good chest rub. Here's what Diamond's foster family has to say about him: "Diamond is lovable, and bonds very quickly with humans. He is a large dog but thinks he is a lapdog. He loves head rubs, belly rubs, and cuddling with his humans. He really loves laying next to us on the couch and knows which furniture he is permitted on, and which he isn't. He is very smart and has learned a few words since he has been here, particularly the words 'liverwurst' and 'spam.' He loves playing, especially catch. We often play in the yard, but if it's too hot, we have actually played catch in the house." Diamond would be a perfect only animal for a home, according to his foster. Pet of the Week highlights animals available for adoption from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. The Arlington County Animal Shelter is located at 2650 S. Arlington Mill Drive, Arlington, VA 22206. Visit AWLA's website to find out more. (Julie Gould/AWLA)
