Description

EAST HAVEN, CT —The state Municipal Election is Tuesday, Nov. 2. Patch contacted candidates to answer questions about their campaigns. Democrat Josh Balter, 56, is running for Town Council District 3. Occupation: Attorney Family: Lisa Balter, wife, running for Town Clerk, Daniel Balter, son, 24, Dylan Balter, son, 20 Matthew Gallagher, son 37 and Patrick Esposito, son, 31 Experience: Town Council - District 3 The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Quality of Life. I will continue to hold down taxes while working on projects like parks, playgrounds, beach improvements, road and sidewalk repairs, and returning DC Moore to open space. Critical differences between me and my opponents: Proven track record of holding down taxes, decreasing wasteful spending, putting the residents first, being available, and actually improving our Town. All three incumbents in the 3rd District have been doing this. Accomplishments: Balanced budgets, new playgrounds and refurbished parks in the Foxon area, new paving in the 3rd District. My background as a retired Navy Chief, Combat Vet, and as someone who used his GI Bill to go to Law School, I know how to get the job done, unafraid to stick to my guns, and work with others. Other issues: Continuing to rebuild our Town after the years of decay under the previous administration. Strict scrutiny of budgets and holding departments accountable; it's your money and my job is to work for you and make sure it isn't wasted. What else would you like voters to know about you? I have dedicated my life to public service and believe the only purpose of an elected official is to make the lives of his constituents better.
