Denver's Housing To Health Program received federal recognition in the form of grants totaling $6.3 million. The program serves individuals experiencing homelessness who have been incarcerated and are at risk for serious but avoidable health problems. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen commented that the program "will make a substantial difference in the lives of these individuals and provide benefits to the whole community." (Denver Patch)Police say that four people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Johnny Quintana, 59. Quintana was found shot to death in August a few blocks from Aviator Park. Those taken into custody have been identified as Kesha Perez, 29; Donnie Casados, 49; Jackson Chism, 35; and Isabell Medina, 22. (The Denver Channel)People interested in seeing the results of a basic income program will have to wait, as Hilal Bahcetepe reports that the Denver Basic Income Project has hit a few snags. The program, initiated and partially funded by investor Mark Donovan, sought to provide direct cash payments to low-income community members. Among the reasons cited for the delay include lack of transparency, lack of representation and a controversial fiscal sponsor. Read the details at Westword.
