This includes the review with management to determine commitments, job creation based on that review, the review and release of manufactured component jobs to support top level demands, and to initiate the execution of those jobs based on scheduled start dates. The position of Production Planning Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for scheduling, capacity planning and maintaining shipments in a timely manner. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Works directly with the Manufacturing Manager to plan, coordinate and direct production activities and resources necessary to maintain shipments in accordance with monthly budgeted objectives - Coordinates manufacturing activities and monitors schedule performance against plan to maintain priorities and meet established schedules by meeting on a regular basis with cross-functional teams to resolve delayed customer shipments, component shortages, overtime, priorities, as well as identifying problems - Creates and maintains production schedule and interface with sales to provide timely updates to order shipments and production delays - Manage WIP levels for production lines - Handles cross department communication, such as: handling expedited requests, supplying shipping information, and routine order status questions - Reviews and distributes production shipment and work schedules - Ensures the flow of materials, parts and assemblies between or within departments - Work directly with Operations Manager: Plan and coordinate production activities and resources necessary to maintain shipments in accordance with monthly budgeted objectives and to meet customer requested ship dates - Initiate meetings with the necessary departments to resolve conflicts - Evaluate production staffing; if overtime is required notify Manufacturing or Operations Manager, VP of Sales or HR for approval; and/or make recommendations for changes in staffing level based upon current and anticipated changes in production requirements - Create and maintain a Production Schedule and Capacity Plan - Assist Accounting with cycle counting activities by scheduling production resources - Schedule staff cross training and rotation of duties - Validate inventory levels and update errors in the MRP system - Initiate and coordinate inventory and production control programs such as KANBAN - Collaborate with Inside Sales to provide timely updates to order shipments and delays in production - Address issues when they arise, aiming for minimum disruption POSITION REQUIREMENTS: - Proven experience as production planner - Good written and oral communication skills - Team player with good people skills. Must work well with others at all levels - Reasoning ability to definite problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions - Proficient in Excel, Word - Good mathematical and statistical skills - A commitment to exceptional customer service - High school diploma: Further education or certification is preferred Preferred Qualifications: 2-4 year technical degree, or equivalent manufacturing planning/scheduler experience Traits: Ability to uphold the company's mission and vision. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Windows (10) Proficient in Microsoft Office (365) Working Conditions: Physical Demand(s): Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs, sit, stand, stoop, kneel and stand for reasonable periods of time. Visual Demand(s): Ability to look at a computer monitor for reasonable periods of time, work with small parts during assembly process. Hazard(s): Manufacturing environment.
