PETALUMA, CA — An investigation was underway Thursday into a bomb threat reported against Casa Grande High School, police said.
Around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Petaluma Police Department became aware of the threat made on an anonymous reporting system.
Police and school officials have determined that information about the anonymous reporting system was shared with about 80 students Wednesday in a freshman physical education class. . cSchool safety was discussed along with information on how to anonymously report school safety issues. The same reporting system discussed in the class was used to make the threat, police said.
"Detectives have been working with the anonymous reporting system company about the report of the threat and are conducting investigative steps to identify the source of the threat," the Petaluma Police Department said in a statement Thursday. "While the case is still actively being investigated, the department was not able to find any information at this time to corroborate the threat."
This information has been shared with school officials as investigators continued Thursday to evaluate the safety of students at the high school, police said.
"The police department treats all threats of this kind very seriously and is determined to identify who made the anonymous threat," police said.
