JOLIET, IL — A Will County grand jury this week indicted a 63-year-old Joliet resident on felony charges of aggravated driving under the influence.
This marks the fourth DUI charge for Joseph Rulec, who crashed into a gas station pump in the 1600 block of East Washington Street on the night of Aug. 1, according to court records.
A Will County Sheriff's deputy arrested Rulec in connection with DUI charges at the time of the incident on Joliet's east side.
Rulec was driving a brown 2004 Ford Expedition at the time of his 10:21 p.m. traffic stop near the intersection of Briggs Street and Washington, which is considered Joliet Township.
"Joseph crashed his vehicle into a gas pump," the Will County Sheriff's report stated. "Joseph said he drank two rums and cokes. Blood shot watery eyes, slurred speech. Strong odor of alcoholic beverage on breath. PBT (Preliminary breath test) would say he was drunk. Fields indicated impairment."
Rulec had a valid driver's license at the time of his arrest, the incident report indicated. Rulec lives in the 100 block of Joliet's South Park Road. He was booked into the Will County Jail on Aug. 1 and freed the following day, after posting 10 percent of his $1,000 bail.
According to the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Rulec's three previous DUI convictions happened as a result of DUI infractions on:
