Man Rescued From Glendale Storm Drain

PHOENIX, AZ — Glendale and Peoria fire department workers collaborated to rescue a man from a Glendale storm drain Thursday morning, according to the Glendale Fire Department. It was a quick rescue after a passerby saw the man in his 30s waving from the drain and called for help, fire officials said. The man told rescuers he climbed into the drain on Tuesday because he was "having a bad day," according to the Glendale Fire Department, but officials have no way to confirm whether that is true. Once rescuers determined that there was adequate oxygen in the drain, they lowered a ladder and helped the man out of it. The man was able to stand and walk on his own once he was out on the street, fire officials said. Rescuers transported the man to a local hospital for evaluation, according to the department.
