With over 30 years in the roofing business, Garner Roofing, Inc., is actively hiring experienced Roofers, Journeymen and Crew Leads, as our family-owned company is growing fast. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • inspect work area to ensure that all required tools are present; evaluating and calculating the total amount of materials and labor needed to complete assigned job; • inspect a roof to determine the best repair or replacement procedure; • ensure that any materials they use are properly trimmed to tightly fit along the edges of a roof; • alter materials as needed; • make sure that materials used fit around chimneys, vents, gutters, and walls, and other intersecting surfaces; • use of hammers, chisels, and/or other abrasive materials such as bricks, sand, and dirt to level out surfaces; • construct a weatherproof roof by installing shingle materials; • set up ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures as well as break down the job site; • communicate with team members to make sure no mistakes are made or safety rules compromised; • works as part of a team to ensure safety and proper work is completed; • repairs and/or constructs roof framing when necessary to ensure safety for our customers; • stacked excess material to ensure safety in work areas; and • supervises crews to ensure safety, quality, code compliance and on-time completion of all jobs. QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: • 3 years minimum experience as a Journeyman for Journeyman position; • experience with composition asphalt, tile roofing, stone coat steel, standing seam, architectural sheet metal, single ply; residential or commercial; • detail-oriented and is comfortable with outdoor construction; • ability to work on ladders and roofs at extreme heights and temperatures; • ability to lift heavy materials ranging from 50lbs. – 100lbs up & down ladders; • must be drug-free and have reliable transportation to company yard; • has a physical fitness level that will allow for quick movement, climbing, bending and lifting heavy loads; • must have the motivation and positive attitude to learn and follow instructions from supervisors; • has strong work ethic and desire to perform quality work; • Communication and teamwork skills including an openness to receiving feedback from superiors; • general knowledge of roofing procedures, techniques and specialties; • the ability to SAFELY handle a variety of tools and roofing assignments is critical; • the ability to establish and keep positive working relationships with peers, customers, and other contractors is essential; • work cooperatively with a team to get the job done; • delivering outstanding customer service to provide customers with a satisfying experience throughout the roofing process; and • previous experience in roofing, construction or related scope of work, construction safety certification such as OSHA training, and a valid California Driver’s License are a plus but not required.
