Aramark Uniform Services in NW Portland is accepting applications for production associates in our industrial laundry facility. These are full time union positions with benefits. There are advancement opportunities available for strong performers. Position are M - F 5 am - 1:30 pm or 11:30 pm to 8 pm. Union position with benefits. Uniforms provided. Free parking or on bus lines 15, 17 and 77. (limited bus availability in am) A background check is required for this position. Individuals should apply by clicking the link below to enter our career page. Washroom Operator 11:30 am – 8 pm Hoists slings or pushes carts to wash area. Loads soiled merchandise into washers. Activates washers insuring proper weight, balance, water temperature and cleansing material. Removes clean merchandise from washers and moves by slings or carts to extractor, dryer, or steam tunnel. Maintains appropriate, required production records. Physical requirements include repetitive motion over the duration of the entire shift using arms, fine manipulation of hands, lifting, twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and climbing within a heavy work category which requires lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Entire work shift is performed both standing/walking on concrete. Work is performed in a non-climate controlled production environment subject to extreme temperature change. Work requires maintaining established production standards while adhering to established health, safety and housekeeping standards/guidelines. Must be 18 years or older, have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment; possess a positive attitude, flexible schedule and the ability to follow instructions and basic command of the English language is preferred. Iron Feeder 11:30 am – 8 pm Sorts by size/color cleaned carts of aprons, napkins, tablecloths and various linens and inspects for quality and defects and reports findings to proper person. Properly feeds various linen products into flat ironer and wraps final product in plastic and places bundles of products into carts. Physical requirement include repetitive motion over the duration of the entire shift using arms, fine manipulation of hands, lifting, twisting, bending and kneeling within a 20-30 pound work category. Work is performed in a non-climate controlled production environment and requires maintaining established production standards while adhering to established health, safety and housekeeping standards/guidelines. Must be 18 years or older, have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment; possess a positive attitude, flexibility and the ability to follow instructions. Garment Hanger Prepares their work station; Transfers hangers from hanger rack to shirt or pant hanging aid; For shirts, flips hanger up on to hanger aid, removes shirt from tub or table and dresses shirt on hanger, pulls sleeves out (if needed); For pants, removes pant from tub or table, grasps the zipper end while stretches the waist band with the other hand, applies one brisk shake to allow pant crease to fall in place, lays the pant over the hanger aid, advances the hanger up to the slotted area, and removes the pant from the hanging aid; Identifies any merchandise repairs not meeting specified quality standards in terms of tears, holes, stains, ink spots, torn/worn labels/emblems, or missing buttons with the application of a twist tie to the hanger of item that needs repair; Ensures that garment is placed on an open conveyor pick; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities; Other duties as assigned Bulk Folder Remove towels and products from lift cart/table and in visually inspect for quality and defects and report findings to proper person. Properly processes towels by either manually folding by hand various towels, stack folded towels into bundles and place bundles on conveyor; bag products, secure bags and place bags into carts or process towels using an industrial folding machine. Physical requirement include repetitive motion over the duration of the entire shift using arms, fine manipulation of hands, lifting, twisting, bending and kneeling within a 5-10 pound work category. Soil Operator Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility. Prepares appropriate numbers of daily slings or carts/carriers for the wash floor; Verifies merchandise type and quantity on PUC card; segregates like items together in a sling; Identifies counts, and totals ruin or damaged merchandise and records on the PUC card; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities. Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Work schedule is Mon - Fri, Days. Overtime required as needed. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; Requires the ability to move or maneuver slings or carriers weighing up to 220 lbs; Requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull product weighing up to 50 lbs; Requires bending, reaching, pulling, and pressing at shoulder level and below waist area; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
