In this festive concert, Music Matters rolls the calendar straight back to the mid-19th century.
Before New England had more than a very few orchestras, rapt music lovers first experienced new orchestral music on two pianos, piano four-hands, or piano and organ. This was how our ancestors first heard symphonies, oratorios, overtures..... and piano concertos.
Eminent pianists Olga Vinokur and Jiayan Sun, already deeply admired by our La Grua audiences, will play the rich, filigreed orchestral fabric underpinning each other's glittering solos. If that were not enough, this opulent pairing of an elegant Parisian concert grand and its masterful Boston sibling is unique on the stages of North America.
