National Achievement Week is a mandated program of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Inc.
In 1927, at his urging, the Fraternity made National Negro Achievement Week an annual observance. In 1976, this commemoration evolved into Black History Month. Presently, the Achievement Week Program is used to recognize those individuals at the local and national levels who have made significant contributions towards improving the quality of life for African Americans.
As we approach the 110th anniversary of the birth of our illustrious organization, The Gateway Chapter encourages you to attend our Achievement Week program titled “Omega Men Protecting Life and Liberty”. Our Achievement Week committee has been tirelessly at work planning these events to recognize the contributions of some OWTstanding members of the Yazoo City community as well as acknowledging the stellar work of those within our Chapter.
This year's 25th Annual Achievement Week Program will be star studded featuring the 19th President and CEO of the NAACP, Brother Derrick Johnson, Esq, as the Keynote Speaker. Accompanying Brother Johnson will be none other than Brother Cortez Bryant, Co-C.E.O. of The Blueprint Group and partner at Maverick that has a storied career galvanizing game-changing talent such as Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj as Master of Ceremony and a Live Band Performance featuring Stephanie Luckett, that soulful voice which embodies the roots of Mississippi with vocal ability that is full of heart and lyrical content that connects with listeners.
