PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home. At Patch, we round up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, we only have one new dog that came to the shelter — so he's not sharing the spotlight with any other pooch. His name is Matty. Unfortunately, he didn't have the best start in life — the owner did not know how to socialize or train him properly, but luckily he was surrendered to us just in time. He's made amazing progress in a short time here with training and meeting new people. He is an active pup that would likely make a great jogging partner! Matty is seeking a dog-experienced family with kids 10+ that will continue to socialize him properly and continue his training.
