Lam’s Sr. Life Safety Engineer for facilities provides life safety engineering expertise for our Fremont and Livermore labs. Manages day to day operation and maintenance of life safety systems. Performs design review and provides input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects to meet design requirements, budget, and schedules. Success in this role requires strong working knowledge of life safety equipment operations, maintenance, and projects. Job Duties: • Drive performance and up-time improvements of life safety systems • Schedule fire protection and fire detection vendors to perform code compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and testing of fire detection and fire protection systems • Perform life safety pre-testing and hazmat testing with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) • Manage contractors to complete scheduled preventative maintenance and perform timely fixes of field issues • Maintain load/capacity systems reports • Manage life safety equipment inventory levels • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) during project design development • Support as-build documentation of life safety systems and logic diagrams • Immediately respond to life safety emergencies; assist with Emergency Response Team (ERT) investigations as needed Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field • Five+ years’ experience successfully managing life safety operations, maintenance, and projects • Life safety systems experience working with hazardous materials (including gases such as Silane and Chlorine) • Project Management experience with capital and expensed projects including managing financial controls • Ability to effectively train vendors • Must be able to periodically work flexible hours to meet business needs • Requires ability to work onsite full-time • Post-COVID: Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% (domestic and international) as needed Success in this role requires demonstrated proficiency with problem solving and root cause analysis; ability to support multiple concurrent projects and assignments; continuous improvement and innovative mindset; value internal and cross-functional teamwork to solve problems; the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high energy work environment; and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
