Lam’s Sr. Controls Engineer (Low Voltage) is responsible for the Controls and Instrumentation systems at the Fremont and Livermore sites. Designs and manages ongoing maintenance of Controls systems to meet operational requirements of the facilities infrastructure systems. Success in this role requires strong industrial design experience. Job Duties: • Manage ongoing maintenance of installed systems; maintain SCADA system, local controllers and instruments (PLC based controllers, pressure flow, temperature, etc.) • Drive improvement of infrastructure system performance and up-time • Perform review and approval of Controls and Instrumentation requests • Maintain load/capacity reports for facility infrastructure systems • Develop criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes • Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition • Coordinate with Architecture/Engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings • Provide Controls Engineering design review input and approval for facility infrastructure and process tool installation projects • Provide Controls Engineering construction input and commissioning support for facility infrastructure projects • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) during project design development • Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs • Inspect construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules; work directly with contractors and service providers to ensure delivery of operational results • Support as-build documentation of Controls System and Logic diagrams Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field • Five+ years’ experience in Controls and Instrumentation • Familiarity working with hazardous materials • Strong working knowledge of Instrument Society of America (ISA) requirements • Project Management experience with capital and expensed projects including managing financial controls • Experience with PLC hardware/software and facility system monitoring and control applications • Familiarity with Ignition Based System (IBS) software • Must be willing and able to work onsite full-time • Post-COVID: Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% (domestic and international) as needed Additional skills and abilities beneficial for this role include proficiency with troubleshooting, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills; continuous improvement and innovative mindset; ability to support multiple concurrent projects and assignments; value internal and cross-functional teamwork to solve problems; a Professional Engineering license; the ability to thrive working in a fast paced, high energy work environment; and solid written and oral communication skills.
