Description
We want to hire you! We need to move our HVAC air return so we can get more air flow.
In the new location, the air return will come up through the floor inside of a closet, then open through the side wall to the filter and grille.
The job:
- Install a new 14x24" return air grille in the wall.
- Cut an opening in the *floor* of the closet behind the wall for a new duct (12"?)
- Build an air-tight box inside the closet with drywall or sheet metal.
- Attach a new flex duct inside the crawl space to the opening in the floor
- Disconnect the current air return -- it has two 8" flex ducts connected to it
- Connect the existing two 8" flex ducts to the new larger flex duct
- Make sure it's all air tight and doesn't leak :-)
- Remove the old air return and seal up the opening so it's air tight
The entrance to the crawl space opening is 24" high. It narrows down to about 16" high.
I contacted some local HVAC contractors, and the job is too small for them. Can you help?
Thanks!
Jon
