NEW BERLIN, WI — The New Berlin Common Council voted Tuesday to end the City's contract with Waste Management for residential services. The contract will officially end on Dec. 31.
John's Disposal Service will be the main residential trash hauling company starting Jan. 1, according to a news release from the New Berlin Mayor's Office. For the remainder of the year, Waste Management has agreed to "utilize its best efforts to meet performance standards," the release said.
New Berlin will also seek damages from Waste Management for previous deficiencies in service. The city filed a claim against the company for $49,925 in damages.
"The City will be preparing a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to prepare all residents for the transition process. Those FAQs, once prepared, will always be available on the City's homepage. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available," according to the news release.
