ISLIP, NY — A 22-year-old man was arrested on gun charges on Tuesday after police found him to be in possession of a loaded handgun without a permit in Islip, police said According to New York State Police, officers responded to a tractor trailer on the shoulder of the Sagtikos Parkway southbound north of exit S4 at about 3:14 p.m. The driver, Rafael Velasquez of Fairfield, Texas, was found to have the gun without a New York pistol permit. Velasquez is being arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court.
