Description

WHO WE ARE: Hello there. At the moment we are mainly a basic rhythm section (guitar, bass and drums). We have 8-9 original songs learned. I am the main songwriter and arranger and at present. Other songwriters and arrangers are welcome, provided what they develop in this group is complimentary to my own developments. Collaboration is also welcome, but as a songwriter I will naturally be protective of the space where I can develop my ideas. From what I can see now, much of what we are doing now is primarily a mix of post punk and new wave type ideas ( Devo, The Clash, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, Blondie, Gang Of Four, Siouxsie & The Banshees ) mixed up with R&B and funk/soul/disco ( Sly Stone, CHIC, Earth Wind & Fire, Prince, Erykah Badu,... The sound is kind of a retro late 70s early 80s type of sound. We tend to work out blends of sound as opposed to overreliance on power chords. Anyone heavily influenced by pop punk would probably not be satisfied here. We have a space with amps and what not, LGBTQ friendly, 420 friendly WHO YOU ARE: You are a conscientious and competent musician. You are not going to make the whole COVID safety issues complicated because you are vaccinated. You have time, focus and conviction. You are chill. You need not be a deep study of blues, jazz & gospel, but you'll at least need to fake it 'til you make it. Among us, the youngest is 27 and the oldest is 54. Some bands/artists that we can appreciate: Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Nicole Willis & The Souls Investigators, Khruangbin, Little Dragon, David Bowie, Mac Demarco, Connan Mockasin, Michael Jackson, Barry White, Wrecking Crew, Funk Brothers, The Swampers, The Fame Gang, The Zombies, The Kinks, The Beatles & The Stones, Bob Dylan, CSNY ( Especially Y), Laurel Canyon, Brill Building, Husker Du, Minutemen, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys,
