SPEONK, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested after he tried to swipe a tip jar from a Speonk bagel shop Tuesday, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, at 11:45 a.m., Sergio Salazar-Dominguez, 39, entered Bagels N Brunch on Montauk Highway and stole the jar containing about $40 cash off of the countertop at that location. The incident was witnessed by off-duty Suffolk County Police officers who stopped Salazar-Dominguez and held him until the arrival of on-duty Southampton Town Police officers, authorities said. Salazar-Dominguez was processed at Southampton Police headquarters and taken to Southampton Justice Court for arraignment, police said.
