Bridgeport Vet Charged With Animal Cruelty Practicing Again

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport veterinarian who has been charged in two animal cruelty cases is practicing again, according to News 12 Connecticut. The Connecticut Board of Veterinary Medicine has allowed Dr. Amr Wasfi, 75, to see patients but under restrictions. Wasfi is not permitted to work alone and must be subject to on-site supervision of another state licensed veterinarian. Wasfi is also barred from performing surgery and prescribing anesthesia, News 12 Connecticut reported. Wasfi was charged last year with cruelty to animals in connection with the death of a 10-week-old puppy in his care. Police said the dog died of overheating after being left on a heating pad for "an extended period," according to The Connecticut Post. Wasfi, who is listed as the sole doctor at Black Rock Animal Hospital, was also charged in 2019 on accusations that he performed an "unnecessary" surgery on a dog.
