The response comes after President Joe Biden announced a mandate earlier this month requiring businesses with more than 100 employees to require workers get vaccinated or else be tested for COVID-19 weekly, according to the Texas Tribune. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order in August banning state agencies and local political divisions from adopting/enforcing vaccination requirement policies. It also applies to public or private entities that receive government funding â who cannot require employees or patrons to provide vaccination status or deny entry on this basis. Despite the controversy over mask mandates and vaccinations, unvaccinated people are 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than fully vaccinated people, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Local and national health officials have confirmed that getting the vaccine is the best way to protect oneself against the coronavirus.
