AUSTIN, TX — A deadly pedestrian crash forced the closure of the northbound lower deck of Interstate 35 early Wednesday.
Around 5:30 a.m., Austin police confirmed it closed the northbound entrance to the lower deck at the 4400 block of I-35 due to the crash. Authorities told KVUE that a pedestrian was trying to cross the interstate lanes in that area when they were struck by a pick-up truck around 5:07 a.m.
The news outlet reports the pedestrian died at the scene and the driver of the truck stayed at the scene to cooperate with officials.

At this time, all northbound lanes of I-35 have reopened. The lower deck was closed near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for about three hours.
