JERSEY CITY, NJ — Election and campaign season is in full swing in Jersey City, and that means candidate forums are scheduled and ready. The Journal Square Community Association will host several upcoming forums including forums for At-Large candidates and mayoral candidates on Jersey City's November ballot. This Saturday, the At-Large candidate forum is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hudson County Community College Student Center, located at 81 Sip Ave., 2d floor. Six of the seven candidates for these seats plan to participate. Participating candidates include incumbents Rolando Lavarro and Daniel Rivera as well as challengers Amy Degise, Chris Gadsden, June Jones and Elvin Dominici. Incumbent Joyce Watterman could not make the forum. A mayoral candidate forum will be held on Oct. 16 between incumbent Steven Fulop and challenger Lewis Spears. The forum will also be held at the HCCC Student Center, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Both forums will be livestreamed on the association's Facebook page. The JSQCA held a Ward C Council candidates forum on Sept. 18. between Kevin Bing and Tom Zuppa. In Jersey City, 24 candidates filed and made it onto November's ballot. There are eight open spots on the City Council and the race of Mayor. Election day is Nov. 3. Are you running for office in Jersey City?
