JERSEY CITY, NJ — A Jersey City man admitted to assaulting a U.S. Postal Employee and pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of assaulting a federal employee. Joseph Cartagena, 34, of Jersey City, assaulted a postal employee who was driving his postal truck on March 3 in Jersey City, according Department of Justice documents. Cartagena asked the employee to pull over his truck and, once the employee pulled over and exited, Cartagena pointed a gun at him, according to the DOJ. The postal employee immediately pushed Cartagena's hand away and ran into traffic to get away. Cartagena then got in his car and drove away. Cartagena could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2022.
