How about a bird watching kit, or a hiking kit complete with a headlamp and hiking poles? You can, and it's all thanks to Sacramento Public Library Director and CEO Rivkah Sass, who announced her retirement on Tuesday. She will leave a lasting legacy on Sacramento. Among her achievements during her tenure, Sass established the "library of things," helped 200 adult students earn their accredited high school diploma and entertained countless children with her much loved Little Red Hen storytime, where she often showed up to read and sing with the children. In honor of her leadership, the Friends of Sacramento Public Library have established the Young Readers Fund. The endowed fund will help fulfill Sass' wish to advance children's literacy in Sacramento County.
