SMITHFIELD, RI —A Rhode Island orchard is among the best in the country, according to a new ranking from USA Today. Jaswell's Farm made the list of the top 10 pick-your-own orchards. The orchard was part of a group of 20 selected by USA Today. Readers then chose their favorites to determine the final top 10 ranking. Jaswell's Farm came in at number seven. Jaswell's Farm offers pick-your-own apples, every day but Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the farm is not offering hay rides this year, and all orchard rows are one-way. Guests are asked not to touch apples they don't intend to pick, and not to eat apples while in the orchard. However, each member of the party is allowed to take one apple with them for the ride home, as is their tradition. More information is available on the farm's website.
